Report sightings of protected species in the Adriatic and help preserve them
This application provides functionality to report sightings of protected or endangered species, with the aim to create a data base about their occurrence and spatial distribution in the Adriatic Sea. The listed species are listed as Natura 2000 species of interest or are protected by the law in Croatia. They can be seen in the Adriatic Sea and are relatively easy to identify. The collected data is stored to a data base, accessible to public institutions for management of marine protected areas in Croatia to help them create informed management plans. Besides this functionality, the application contains general information about the listed species to help identify them, and the information about the marine protected areas in Croatia. This list will be extended in the following versions of the application. By reporting your sightings, you are contributing to a shared effort of civil society organizations and marine protected areas managing bodies to conserve protected marine species and their habitats.
The application “Marine partnership” is one of the results of the project “Partnership for the sustainable use of common marine resources”. This project is conducted by the Blue World Institute, Blue World Vis, Association Argonauta and public institutions National park Kornati and Priroda with the financial assistance by the European Union and the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. The aim of the project is strengthening the cooperation between NGOs and public institutions for managing marine protected areas, and the involvement of the public in marine conservation issues.
