Saathi

Saathi is the first AI solution in Nepal that helps our farmers adopt data-driven farming through offline edge solutions. Saathi is built as a cheap, rugged and easy to use device that can be deployed even in the most remote agricultural areas of Nepal.

Saathi was created through collaboration between female technocrats from fields of Computer Science, especially Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Electrical Engineering and Agricultural Science.

Core Actions

1. Data and AI development for the future

Saathi uses data and Artificial Intelligence to process soil and plant imageries as well as the data points collected by the sensors from the soil to provide essential real time information to the farmers about the health of their soil and the crops.

2. Progress in the intelligent edge

Saathi module is an inexpensive, non-intrusive and easy-to-use hardware and software ecosystem that, when placed in a farm, is capable of collecting 7 different parameters: salinity, temperature, moisture, Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) and pH. Edge computations are then performed on these parameters along with soil and plant imageries to provide recommendations to the farmers without the need of any internet connection.

3. Results of expensive R&D made publicly available

Research and Development is a tedious and resource intensive process. Impacters thus intends to make the results of project Saathi public to kickstart research in the field of agriculture and to serve as the basis for further scientific research, especially at the intersection of machine learning and agriculture.
