Impulse Meter

Measure Impulse events with this app. Impulse is a change in momentum and can be measured by integrating the force over time. Force is determined from the accelerometer sensor and the mass of your device by using Newton's seconds law.

The acceleration is determined from the linear acceleration sensor or the accelerometer sensor. If using the accelerometer, use AC coupling to remove the effect of gravity, otherwise the app will think that the device is in free fall.

Do not rotate your device throughout any measurement, otherwise the rotation will be misinterpreted as movement. Even if using the linear acceleration sensor, do not rotate your device as linear acceleration sensors are often software based using the accelerometer and other sensors and cannot adequately remove the effect of rotation at high speeds.

The app triggers measurement on the acceleration passing a set level.

Measure impulse events up to 10s in length.

Scalar and Vector modes.

Select start and end points for integrating to get the Impulse reading.
