To affirm is to declare the existence and veracity of something, it is to confirm that something exists and is real. The practice of the statements when used for spiritual purposes is specially made to declare the truth of the divine reality. In this sense, we can also say what has not manifested physically, although there is the subtle planes.

"I Am" is the most powerful mantras, when we say "I am" are saying "God is in me." When we say "I am", we open the inner doors to the divine attributes manifest in us.
